Linear objects may be extended or trimmed to other objects.

To extend or trim a linear object.

  1. Select the primary linear object to be extended or trimmed. This may be a line, line string, arc or spline. Note that a spline can be trimmed but not extended. In a trim situation, select the primary object on the side retention side of the secondary object and the other side will be trimmed.
  2. While maintaing the primary object selection, select the secondary object that the primary object will be extended or trimmed to. This may be a line, line string, arc, circle, spline, box or symbol. Note that only two objects can be selected for the command to be available.
  3. Select Modify/Extend-Trim to extend or trim the primary object (Note that the shortest possible extension will be performed. In a trim situation, select the primary object on the side to be retained and the other side will be trimmed). When valid and desired, repeat step 3 to further extend or trim the primary object. To continue with other selections, simply deselect and select objects to obtain the desired primary and secondary object pair. Ensure the primary object is selected before the secondary object.
  4. Press Esc or select another command to exit the function.
