Version 4 has many new features. These are listed below. For detailed descriptions, refer to the appropriate help topic as underlined.
General

Resource Editor
This module allows you to design symbols, line styles and fonts to meet your particular needs. The symbols, line styles and fonts are now held in libraries accessed by the system. Refer to the Resource Editor help for further information.
CAD for Windows
This module is a complete CAD system designed especially for the Surveying and Civil Engineering industries. Refer to the CAD for Windows help for further information.
Utilities
The following Edit commands have been enhanced.

The following new maintenance command is available:
Removes duplicate lines from the project.
The following Maintenance commands have been enhanced:
Now also removes deleted alignments and text, as well as unused symbol and line style definitions in the project.
Now also checks the integrity of alignments, text objects, symbols and line styles used in the project.
The following new reports are available:
Produces a report on selected points with respect to a selected alignment.
Produces a report on the intersection points and curves along an alignment between nominated chainages.
Produces a report which relates points on a selected alignment to another alignment by chainage and offset.
Report/Alignment Centreline Report
Produces a report on points along the centre line of an alignment.
The following reports have been enhanced
Now also reports on text and alignment objects.
There is now an option to compute the areas in the report from the rounded polygon dimensions.
This report now gives statistical information related to the average difference and standard deviation of the differences for the points compared.
The following new configuration commands are available:
Configures the system for constants used in the design of combined curves.
Used to license the software, transfer a license to another installation and display the license status of the installation.
The following configuration commands have been enhanced:
There is now an option to configure grades as ratios or percentages.
There is now an option to configure colours for alignments.
The minimum value for the major area unit can now be set by inserting the AreaChange command in the Settings section of the Lcplus.ini file.
Configure/Information Bar
There is now an option to include a button and code list on the information bar for immediate access to text attributes. Also, any combination of the code lists and buttons for points, lines, polygons and text may be configured.
The following Table command has been enhanced:
There is a new Text button and corresponding Code Table Text Attributes are now assigned to codes for easy recall.
This alternative code table editor also now caters for assigning text attributes to codes.
The following Display command has been enhanced:
There are new options to control the display of Spiral, Alignment and Text objects, and display of models is also now incorporated in this command.
There is a new option to display line styles as ordinary solid lines with resulting increase in drawing speed.
Field Transfer
The following commands have been enhanced:
There is now an option to protect the raw file.
There is now an option to upload the digital terrain model for the Leica TPS-1000 range of instruments.
There is now an option to specify the extended character format for Leica/Wild instruments.
There is now an option to specify the extended character format for the Sokkia SDR33.
There is now an option to scale the co-ordinates being uploaded.
There is now an option to specify an uploaded file name for TPS-1000 and SDR33.
The following Leica/Wild Operation Codes have been enhanced or added.
Operation Code 5 -Symbol dimensions entered will now apply to all following points until a new feature code is applied.
Operation Code 8 -Extended to allow construction of Building Wing Lines

The following new Creation commands are available:
Create/Point by Alignment Chainage & Offset
Creates a new point by chainage along an alignment and offset from that alignment.
Create/Line by Line & Offset Point
Creates a new point along an existing line at 90 degrees to an existing point. The new point and the existing offset point are joined by a new line.
Creates a new arc by specifying its tangent lines and any other arc parameter.
Creates a new Spiral by the following methods:
Start Tangent, Length & End Radius
End Tangent, Length & End Radius
Creates a new combined curve by specifying its tangent lines and various combinations of parameters.
The following types of combined curves can be created:
Spiral in, Arc, Spiral Out
Spiral In, Spiral Out
Spiral In, Arc
Arc, Spiral Out
Numerous techniques are available depending on the type of combined curve to be created.
Creates a new Alignment by the following methods:
Creates Intersection points for an alignment that contains spirals or arcs.
Creates a new polygon by automatically tracing through contiguous lines.
Creates a new Text object.
The following new Attribute commands are available:
Set the attributes for new alignment objects.
Set the attributes for new text objects.
Adopts the attributes of a text object as the current text attributes.

Checks an alignment object for consistency errors and non tangency.

Data Conversions
The following commands have been enhanced:
Symbol and Line style lookup files can now be used for converting symbols and line styles between certain systems and LISCAD. Refer to the Lookup Tables dialog.
If the SEGP1 file co-ordinates do not contain decimal points, LISCAD will interpret the precision of the co-ordinates according to the Configure/Co-ordinates precision settings.
CAD Output
The following new commands/enhancements are available:
Settings/CAD System/LISCAD CAD for Windows
This allows the creation of CAD files for the new LISCAD CAD for Windows module.
Enhanced tab format dialog box.
New settings for output of text objects.
All text output to a CAD system can now have a weight (thickness) value.
Text output to LISCAD CAD for Windows can be set as proportional or non proportional.
User defined fonts (designed in the Resource Editor) may be selected for text output to LISCAD CAD for Windows.
Sets the CAD Output settings for alignment objects.
All enhanced to output table headings to the CAD file. You may change the headings by editing the INI file.
Enhanced to allow output of a prefix or suffix for grid label co-ordinates.
Enhanced to allow the following:
-All new object types can be output to the CAD system.
- Large decimal point option for distances output to a LISCAD CAD file.
- Entities BYLAYER option to export all objects onto a layering system as defined in AutoCAD.
-Polylines as Lines option to output all line strings as line segments to AutoCAD.
-AutoCAD default Points option to output AutoCAD points in addition to blocks and lines.
-Option to replace LISCAD symbols with AutoCAD blocks.
Option to replace LISCAD line styles with AutoCAD or MicroStation line styles.
