What's New in Version 6.0

Version 6.0 has many new features. These are listed below. For detailed descriptions, refer to the appropriate help topic as underlined.

GENERAL

LISCAD now uses the Windows Installer Service which provides many new enhancements such as:

Polygon Blocks

Blocks can now be created by selecting Polygon objects. This has the advantage of being mathematically precise as well as supporting linear objects other than straight lines.

Block All

Creating a Block to encompass the whole data set is now just a single click away.

Register LISCAD On-line - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

Registration for LISCAD is now on-line through the Help, there is no longer the need to fill in a card and mail it back. Simply register on-line and the information is quickly and easily e-mailed. For those without internet access a print out of the registration form can be faxed.

You can now request a quote for the latest version of LISCAD on-line.

LISCAD Lite

LISCAD Lite now operates with standard SEE data files and can be used as a viewer for all LISCAD objects, including Long and Cross Sections.

UTILITIES

Change Identifiers

This functionality has been completely reworked. Prefixes and suffixes can now be removed as well as changing, renumbering and compressing the identifiers.

Optimise Data Base - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

Data sets can now be optimised for optimum performance. Running this function, particularly on large data sets, will improve performance on redraw times and searches.

Statistics Report - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

Statistics now reports on Disabled objects.

Intersection Point by Alignment Report

Now reports on Degree of Curvature and Chord Length.

Point Comparison by Alignment Report

This is a new point comparison report. It enables you to create a report by selecting an alignment, offsets and a model. The points within the offsets are compared to the model elevations and reported by chainage with respect to the section markers.

New Projections

Support for NZGD49 and NZGD2000 projection has been added.

User Definable RAW File Editor - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

Enhancement to enable the configuration of a separate raw file editor.

Auto Backup - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

The 'Auto Backup' command has been reinstated and now works in conjunction with 'Save As'.

Code Tables

The combined code drop down list now shows the description beside the code.

Plot All in Black

Print/Plot now has an option to plot SEE files in black.

FIELD TRANSFER

Geodimeter Re-Formatter - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

The Geodimeter re-formatter has been modified to re-order the observed East/North co-ordinates to conform to the current system settings.

Leica Field Operation Codes Enhancement - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

Operation Code 14 allows the operator in the field to enter additional description information for a point. LISCAD previously read the first four Information fields contained in the Code record, this has been extended to permit up to eight of the Information fields to be read.

Traverse Sheet Editor Allows Mixing of Distance Units

In the traverse sheet editor, different distance units can be entered on the fly by entering a suffix letter after the actual value. Units are 'M' for metres, 'F' feet, 'L' Links and 'U' US Feet. Both lower and upper case characters can be used.

One Line Traverse

Traverse now supports a one-line traverse check, whereby the misclose is shown when observing a bearing and distance from a known point to a second known point. 

Traverse Reports Enhancement: Area Report from Closed Traverse
In the type 1 report, the area is shown if a traverse starts and ends on the same point.

Leica TPS-700 Series Total Station support - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

Support for Leica TPS-700 series instruments has been added. You can now upload predefined Code Libraries onto the TPS-700 series of instruments. User can upload a Format file that will allow collected data to be downloaded and processed.

TDS Re-Formatter Enhancements - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

The TDS re-formatter has been updated to extract and reduce rounds of angles.

LISCAD has updated its support for the TDS software to enhance the interchange of data now that TDS supports US feet and grads.

Support for Topcon GTS600/GTS700/GTS800/GTS800A Instruments - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

Enhanced support for NIKON - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

For Nikon total stations, the record type 'CP' is now fully supported.

Leica TPS-300 and TPS-1100 Code Lists - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

Updated code list files (.CRF) for Leica TPS-300 and TPS-1100 instruments have been added.

Polygon Creation in the Field

Support for the creation of polygons during the reduction of a field file.

Road Plus

Output to Road Plus now supports Vertical Design and Cross Sections.

Least Squares Adjustment: Exclude Observations

Excludes observations from the adjustment process.

TDS Ranger

Support for the Tripod Data Systems Survey Pro running on the Ranger Series hardware.

Field File Reduction Tolerances - (Now supported in LISCAD Lite)

LISCAD Lite users can now specify and set the various Tolerances for field reduction such as: Scale Factor; Instrument and Target Heights and Theodolite and EDM constants.

COMPUTATIONS

Point Creation by Grid

Enables grids of points to be created with multiple options for automatically generating point identifiers and entering or computing elevations.

Point Creation by Line and Offset Point

Enables points to be created by selecting a line object and a point to create a point on the line at a perpendicular offset to the selected point.

Point Creation by Line / Line Intersection

Enables points to be created at the intersection of different line types. The points created can be automatically inserted into the lines and the lines can be broken at these points if required.

Point Creation by Line / Polygon Intersection

Enables points to be created at the intersection of line objects with polygons. The points created can be automatically inserted into the lines and the lines can be broken at these points if required.

Support for Elevation Difference and Grade Input on Object Creation.

For the standard object creation dialog boxes there is now the option to compute the point elevation from a difference in elevation from the point of creation or by a grade.

Create Circle by Freehand and Radius

Circles can now be created by entering a radius and placing the centre of the circle by freehand using the mouse.

Offsets by Point to Line

New offset objects can now be created from any line object, not just straight lines. Select the line object and the point that you want the offset to be attached to. These offsets are dynamic and will be updated automatically if the point or line is moved.

Offsets by Point to Alignment

New offset objects can now be created from any alignment. Select the alignment and the point that you want the offset to be attached to. These offsets are dynamic and will be updated automatically if the point or alignment is moved.

Enabling and Disabling Objects

Points, Lines and Text Objects can now be disabled. Disabling objects allows them to be ignored without deleting them or having to put them on a new Group and switching them off. It provides a quick means of overlaying design data on top of existing data, allowing an integrated design model to be generated without interfering with the original data.

Exchange Axes

Swap the X, Y and Z axes with each other. Ideal for working with façade surveys.

Segment Lines

Break line strings and arcs down into the smallest individual components possible.

Remove Elevation

Elevations can now be removed from points by a range of options including Point ID, Code, Group, Description and Elevation Range.

PROFILES AND DESIGN

Template Editor

Create libraries of design templates for use with different data sets. Extremely powerful and intelligent design system that displays the templates in both tabular and graphical form so you can see exactly what you have designed.

Section Marker Creation

Section Markers can now be created at vertical tangent points and intersection points by selecting a long section attached to the primary alignment.

Creation of Horizontal Long Sections

Select the horizontal control line or alignment and generate a horizontal long section along its length at a nominated elevation. Provides a starting point for your vertical design.

Creation of Individual Cross Sections

Allows new cross sections to be created within an existing cross section set.

Template Implementation Sets

Attach templates designed in the Template Editor to Long or Cross Section vertical control. Match the template surfaces with alignment, long section and cross sections in the data set. Apply modifications to the templates to be applied at nominated chainages. Then apply the template implementation set to generate a cross section set of the design.

Transfer Long Sections into Plan

Create a long section design and transfer the elevations back to points in the plan.

Transfer Cross Sections into Plan

Create a set of design cross sections and transfer them into plan, complete with stringing between the sections and at the limit of the design, as well as automatically disabling the existing data within the design area, ready to generate an integrated design model.

Copy / Move Long Sections

Make a copy of an existing long section and move it by a nominated vertical offset or just move an existing long section vertically.

Copy / Move Cross Section Sets

Make a copy of an existing cross section set and move it by a nominated vertical offset or just move an existing cross section set vertically.

Create Cross Section Sets by Importing ASCII Cross Section Files

Create cross sections directly by importing Chainage, Offset and Elevation data from user defined ASCII files.

Point Creation by Long Section Intersection

Select two long sections and create points in either section or both sections by determining where they intersect.

Create Floating Points on Long Sections

Floating points are points in the long section controlled by chainage. Their elevation is determined by the long section. These points are ideal for placing points along vertical curves at chainages where elevations are to be determined.

Create Floating Points on Vertical Curves at a Nominated Grade

Select a vertical curve and enter a grade to create floating points along the curve at the nominate grade.

Vertical Parabola Designer

Select a vertical intersection point to create a vertical parabola of a nominated horizontal length. Enter the vertical curve design parameters to receive feedback on sight and stopping distances.

Move Section Points by Freehand

Select long and cross section points and move them with the mouse to the desired location. Also preserves vertical parabolas if the design permits.

Move Section Points Absolute

Select long and cross section points and move them to a precise Chainage/Offset and Elevation. Also preserves vertical parabolas if the design permits.

Move Section Points Relative

Select long and cross section points and move them by a relative Distance/Offset and Elevation shift. Also preserves vertical parabolas if the design permits.

Long Section Display Features

There is now provision for displaying Vertical Tangent Points, High and Low Points on vertical curves, Floating Points and Daylight Points.

Long Section CAD Output supports Vertical Parabolas

Vertical parabolas in long sections are exported to CAD as splines.

Long and Cross Section CAD Output supports Attribute Offset Factors

When exporting to a CAD system, the user now has control over the distance between points and lines and their associated text (eg. Point Id, Elevation, Code, Bearings, Distances etc.)

Long Section Points Report

Create a user defined report along a nominated length of a long section at all key points or the currently displayed drop lines.

Long Section Design Report

Create a report of the design parameters along a nominated long section.

Reverse Cross Section View

Reverse the cross section view window so that the user is looking back towards the start of the alignment.

Cross Section Set Points Report

Create a user defined report of each cross section along a nominated length of the cross section set at all key points or the currently displayed drop lines.

DATA CONVERSIONS

Importing ASCII Cross Section Files

Import point data into plan by Chainage, Offset and Elevation from a nominated alignment.

Leica Machine Guidance System D45 File Format

Creates a file directly readable by the Leica Machine Guidance System.

Moss Code Imports as Group - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

The Moss input dialog box has been modified to enable the group to be set as the code and point identifiers to be generated from the Moss string identifier and position in the string.

Text Support with Moss GENIO Files - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

If there is text in the LISCAD project being exported to Moss, then a dialog box is displayed that contains scale factors for both ground and plan text to enable the Moss 'unit-less' text size to be set. Scaling of text is also supported on Moss import.

DXF Import

The DXF import has had its import buffer extended to permit lines of up to 500 characters in length.

VOLUMES

Progressive Base Plane Volumes

Compute volumes between base planes at nominated elevation intervals. Ideal for progressive dam and stockpile volumes.

CAD OUTPUT

CAD Output Support for Attribute Offset Factors - (Also supported in LISCAD Lite)

When exporting to a CAD system, the user now has control over the distance between points and lines and their associated text (eg. Point Id, Elevation, Code, Bearings, Distances etc.)

DXF Enhancements

Polygons can be output as closed polylines.

Polygons can be output as closed polylines in 2D blocks.

Alignments can be output as 2D polylines.
