September 2020 Release of LISTECH Neo
LISTECH Neo latest release is now available.
We are pleased to announce the September 2020 release of LISTECH Neo, the next generation surveying, engineering and geospatial software. This release includes numerous new features, improvements to existing functionality, and engineering fixes to make Neo even better. Some of these enhancements include:
Free Neo Viewer
Neo now operates as a Viewer when a licence cannot be found. This new mode of operation provides free visualisation, examination and measuring functionality, allowing project stakeholders like managers, allied professionals, and clients, to open your Neo projects and extract the information they need from the digital model themselves.
Create Object by Point Name Range
The Create Line and Polygon by Existing Vertex commands now accept a point name range as input. This enhancement enables the quick creation of lines and polygons between sequentially named points. For example, entering "12..17" in the Vertex control of Create Line by Existing Vertex will result in a line being created through points 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17.
Create Shapes From Colour Bands
The new Create Shape by Terrain Model Colour Bands command enables the creation of Shape (Face Set) objects that represent in 3D the colour bands displayed for a specified terrain model. Each colour band is stored as a single object even if the bands are discontinuous. This allows for easy examination and editing of a colour band as a single entity.
Examine Area by Vertex
The new Examine Area command allows the quick calculation of miscellaneous areas by simply selecting a series of vertices that represent the area in question. This means that you no longer need to create a polygon object for the required area and then use the Attributes tool to obtain the area value. This saves a great deal of time for many simple area calculations.
Select Objects Using Existing Polygons
The already extensive set of object selection tools now has a new member. The new select by Polygon tool enables the selection of objects based on the boundary of an existing polygon object. This new feature is ideal for tasks like deleting all objects contained within a polygon. The tool can operate on numerous polygons at a time and honours the selection Criteria setting.
Export Image Attributes to GIS
The existing Esri Geodatabase, Esri Shape and MapInfo MIF/MID exports have been enhanced to include the output of image attributes associated with exported objects. This enhancement outputs image attributes as links to the external image files, therefore enabling a more comprehensive exchange with the most common GIS software file formats.
Customisable Report Titles
The existing Attributes, Compare and Volumes reports have all been improved so that the default title displayed in the report can be overwritten by the user. Although this seems like a small improvement, it can be important for tasks like quality assurance where numerous reports of the same type are generated and a user defined title can clearly identify the purpose of the report.
Enhanced Georeferenced Image Clipping
The existing Manage Georeferenced Images command has been significantly enhanced to support free-form and rectangular clipping in both the image and model views. This enhancement provides a more refined image clipping experience by overlaying project vector data with the georeferenced image, enabling you to define a more accurate clipping region.
Query Language Improvements
The Neo query language has gained numerous improvements including support for: multilevel group attributes, basic arithmetic when inserting and updating attributes, inserting and updating coordinates in attributes (and vice versa), selection of major and minor contours, and the selection of breaklines and boundary polygons - all make the query tool even more powerful.
Other Colour Banding Improvements
The Create Polygon by Terrain Model Colour Bands command now includes an option to merge and flatten the computed polygons. This option results in the minimum number of 2D polygons for each band and is ideal for heat maps. Manage Colour Bands now includes an option to automatically define colour bands based on user specified start and end colours.
User Defined Text Import
The Import User Defined command has been enhanced to include an option to process feature codes. This new option allows the automatic creation of lines and polygons based on the codes associated with the points being imported. The feature code processing is the same as that performed when importing total station or GNSS data via an Xchange Survey module.
Create Tool New Height Method
Relevant Create tool commands have been enhanced to include a new method for determining the height for a vertex being created. The new Terrain Model height method uses the specified terrain model to interpolate the height for the vertex. This method is ideal for tasks such as creating stakeout points when a design model is available.
Improved Multiple Monitor Support
Although Neo has always supported multiple monitors by allowing floating windows to be moved to a secondary screen, this support has been enhanced by retaining the location of all model views between sessions. This means that when closing a Neo project for the day and opening it the next, all model views will be restored to their previously defined location.
Working with Layers Tutorial
A new Working with Layers tutorial has been added to the inbuilt Neo tutorials library. This new tutorial guides you through a number of the great features available with Neo's layering system. Spending approximately 30 minutes to work through this tutorial may reveal something you didn't know that could save you significant time in your everyday workflows.
Getting the Neo September 2020 Release
Neo licences that are on LISTECH Cover or have a Leica Geosystems Customer Care Package (CCP) with an expiry date of September 1, 2020 or later, can download, install, and run this release via the downloads section of the LISTECH Neo product page.
